McLeod School is a vibrant elementary school in north-east Edmonton. It is located in a beautiful community and has immediate access to several soccer fields, a great tobogganing hill and a large playground.
Parents are valued members of the school’s decision-making process and the community is highly supportive of the school. We appreciate volunteers from neighboring stakeholders, such as the weekly reading buddies from Steele Heights Baptist Church. This organization also provides before and after school care.
McLeod School provides a safe and caring environment where students are encouraged to reach their potential. Teachers eagerly embrace research-based instructional strategies and engage every student at his or her level. Continual professional development ensures that teaching and learning are dynamic and up-to-date. Teachers enjoy using Balanced Literacy, Power of Ten, Math Menus and Assessment for Learning.
Technology implementation has been a major focus during the past few years. The school is well equipped with Smartboards, document cameras, digital cameras, response clickers, a wireless lab with 30 laptops and a regular computer lab. Students are regularly using these devices and are well versed in applying technology to produce high quality products.
McLeod School has had many visitors from other schools as well as several international delegations from Norway. The visitors have enjoyed viewing innovative instructional practice and have commented on the high level of teaching and learning at the school.
Students at the school have many leadership opportunities throughout the year. These encompass the Alberta Motor Association Patrollers, the Library Club, Door Monitors, Office Monitors and the Student Leadership Team.
The school is committed to shared leadership! Each staff member, whether support or custodial staff, teacher or administrator, works hard to provide the very best educational experiences for the students.
McLeod School is proud to produce strong learners who are well capable of meeting any future challenges. Together with parents and community stakeholders, staff and student pursue excellence in learning.
We welcome any inquiries and visits to the school.
