School Profile

McLeod School is located in a predominantly residential area in north-central Edmonton. Our multicultural student population consists of children from the communities of McLeod and Miller. Busing is provided for students in the Miller area. Early intervention strategies are used to identify students at risk or requiring more challenge, and students with special needs are included in regular classes with support.  Parent involvement in the school decision making process is encouraged. Parents are welcome to participate in our active school council or to volunteer their time during the school day. Volunteers from Steele Heights Baptist Church read with students on a weekly basis. School facilities are used Monday to Friday evening by the community.

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

WELCOME

Dear Families,

McLeod Mission Statement - School Philosophy

  • We strive to provide a safe and caring school where students are engaged and grow as learners and leaders.
  • We believe that all members of the community are important in supporting students.
  • Friends belong here. Friends learn here. Friends succeed here.

McLeod School is a vibrant elementary school in north-east Edmonton. It is located in a beautiful community and has immediate access to several soccer fields, a great tobogganing hill and a large playground.

The school is committed to shared leadership! Each staff member, whether custodial, support, teacher or administrator, works hard to provide the very best educational experiences for the students. McLeod School is proud to produce keen learners who are capable of creating a positive and successful future story. As partners in education, with parents and community stakeholders, our staff and students pursue excellence in learning. Students at the school have many leadership opportunities throughout the year, such as Patrollers, Library Club Helpers, Announcers, Assembly Emcees, Door Monitors, and more. We will continue to have leadership opportunities for all students from grades K-6.

Parents are valued members of the school’s decision-making process, and the community is highly supportive of the school. Our McLeod School council is very active and devoted to making McLeod thrive. We appreciate all the efforts, organization and commitments they endure. Relationships are essential in our community, and we welcome volunteers from neighbouring stakeholders, such as the weekly reading buddies from Steele Heights Baptist Church. This organization also provides before and after school care.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child/ren for another year. As we continue with needing to practice Covid protocols, please feel free to contact the school office if you would like to have a conversation or book an appointment.

Yours in Learning,
